2025 Legal Talent Report: Building Stronger In-House Teams
In-house legal teams are facing growing demands, expected to deliver more with fewer resources. General Counsel must now balance strategic counsel, risk oversight and business leadership with their core legal responsibilities – all while attracting, developing and retaining talent, and managing the evolving expectations of a new generation.
To explore these challenges, BARBRI – in partnership with Flex Legal – surveyed over 120 senior in-house legal professionals. Our new report reveals common pain points such as limited capacity, skills gaps and retention concerns, and provides practical insights to help legal leaders navigate these issues and strengthen their teams for 2025 and beyond.

Business Development Director Jonathan Worrell had the pleasure of joining the panel, Building (and Keeping) Talented Teams, at the Legal Practice Management (LPM) Conference earlier this month.
Alongside industry experts Sarah Bond-Williams, People and Culture Director at FBC Manby Bowdler, Dr. Katie Best, Visiting Fellow at LSE, and Colin White, Managing Director at Ortus Group, and moderated by Hamzah Hafesji, Head of Product, People and Workforce Management at OneAdvanced, they shared actionable insights and real-world examples of navigating the talent crunch.
A big thank you to LPM for hosting such a dynamic and thought-provoking event.

ALL DAY, LONDON (BST)
SMBP Day
We’re really proud to be supporting the Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP scheme) for the 3rd year running. We will be hosting a group of school-age students at our London office on Friday 1 August. The day is designed to give students from low-income backgrounds, many of whom may not have previously considered careers in law or business, a real-world, accessible snapshot of the opportunities available, and the skills that will help them thrive in the sector.
Later On Lawyers is a page on LinkedIn that was set up by Melanie Arens for networking, inspiration and as a community for career changers into law and "maturer" newly qualified lawyers. Join the webinar to hear Melanie discuss becoming a lawyer later in life, and to ask your questions.
Professional Development – including the Professional Skills Course (PSC), Trainee Litigation Programme and Higher Rights of Audience (Civil or Criminal), and professional skills covering a wide variety of topics from essentials (communication, time-management, mentorship) to generative AI and the respectful workplace.
Custom training: We can develop a training programme specifically for your team or students, white-labelled, and in the modality you prefer.
Whether you're at a top 100 or a small regional law firm, an organisation, ALSP or law school, we'd love to support you with your legal training needs.
